What Does IP Code Mean?

The IP is the abbreviation of Ingress Protection,it is an important index of safety protection of electrical equipment.
The IP Protection level system provides a standard to classify electrical equipment and packaging in terms of the resistance of dust, water and collision. This system has been approved by most European countries, drafted by the International Electrotechnical Commission, And declared in IED529(BS EN 605291992 External Packaging Protection Level (IP code).
The protection level is usually expressed by IP followed by two digits, which are used to define the protection grade.
The first digit indicates the device's resistance to solids like dust, or the extent to which people are protected from harm in a sealed environment. The first digit represents a rating to prevent the entry of solid foreign objects. The highest level is 6. The second digit indicates the resistance from liquid like water, the highest level being 8.
